Dan Reiber’s Upgrades from Javelin Owner’s Manual on Sonrise
Over the last several years I have spent many hours and a lot of money upgrading and improving the Javelin. Most of the upgrades are based on suggestions in Chapter 3 of Javelin Owners Manual. I strongly recommend the book. Contact Dan Reiber for a copy.
I found that I enjoy working on the boat almost as much as I enjoy sailing it. I am a contractor and a wood carver. I had most of the tools necessary to make the changes. I found some of the materials at Lowe’s and Home Depot. Some came from various Marine shops, both locally and on the internet. Some of the parts were salvaged from the boat to be used elsewhere, and some I had inventory.
I followed the book closely on some items. Others I modified and hopefully improved. I did have to get some updates on part numbers.
As much as possible, I tried to color coordinate items. The boat is yellow so most of the items in the boat are yellow. I ordered line in colors as well: red for the main, green for the jib, and blue for the spinnaker.
Many thanks to Dan Reiber for all the advice by phone, email, and on the Javelin Sailors Club.
