3-10 Cunningham
I used the Ronstan RF5101 V Cleat with becket. This is a composite material which is essentially plastic. The cleat was too large for the boom and not shaped properly. I drilled a new countersink hole to fit the the boom. I ground the back of the cleat to fit the shape of the boom with a grinder. The cleat features a fairlead and a becket. This means that I only had to mount one devise to complete the Cunningham. I used a 3/16 rope. This feature works easily.
3-11 Hiking Straps
After an adventure on the lake with 14 – 20 mph winds, I saw the value of adding hiking straps. I used a piece of 3/8″ nylon rope fed trough a pool noodle on each side. I tied them to an eye strap on each end of the CB.
